      Human Trafficking & Natural Disasters Training

      The Louisiana Hurricane Response Hub and Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Task Force are hosting a Human Trafficking & Natural Disasters Training on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at the Norman Mayer Library.  Leanne McCallum, Task Force Coordinator for the Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Task Force, will present an overview of human trafficking of both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals in Louisiana and explore how human trafficking can intersect with natural disasters. The training will also discuss barriers to identification and promising practices for serving trafficking survivors. Training Learning Objectives:  Define the legal characteristics of human trafficking and the sociological concept of human trafficking. Explore the scope and nature of human trafficking in Louisiana Examine how human trafficking intersects with natural disasters using case studies. Explore research-based approaches to identification and response that focus on survivor empowerment. Space is very limited! Please register as soon as possible!
